For Sale

Ok, pity party is over and it is time to get my big girl panties on and get down to business. Our house is on the market. Putting a house on the market and living in it is very stressful. I want to be a little lazy now that KJ is away, however, every time I leave the house it has to be in "show quality" shape. It must be perfect to the 't' in case someone calls while I am out and wants to see the house. Days 1 and 2 on the market were a bust, but day 3 proved to be a good day. We had someone look at the house yesterday. Not sure if they liked it or not. I am still waiting on feedback. I wish I could hide tape recorders through the house so I could hear what potential buyers say as they walk through. Kinda pathetic, huh?! If you go to www.davidwertan.com you can see our listing. I would love feedback!

Magical Days

We're back from Disney and it was sooooo much fun! Noah was pumped everyday, "I want to go to Mickey's park and see Mickey!" After every ride, he cried wanting to go back on it, and if you have ever been to Disney you know the lines are CRAZY. Waiting in the fast pass line with a 2.5yr old and a 3mo. old is adventurous enough for me. Caleb, believe it or not, was so into Disney too. He paid attention at the shows, talked and laughed at Nemo, and loved chewing on Mickey's ear (the stuffed Mickey I bought, not the actual 6ft character costume!). The weekend was full of funny anecdotes from Noah.....
While eating chocolate ice cream - "It tastes like chicken!"
At the character dining with pooh and friends - "TTTIIIIGGGGGGEEERRRR get over here!" (while tigger is across the restaurant)
A few of our friends were along for the ride and one couple, Tracy and BJ, have a 4yr old son, Colton. Well, he and Noah were the talk of the town. By the end of the first day they were calling each other by first and middle names, "Colton Dallas" "Noah James"! It was too funny! Also, I have to give a big THANK YOU to Krista - another along for the Disney Magic experience. She provided us with an AMAZING place to stay.
I love Disney! I could go all the time if I were in better shape. The early a.m. and late p.m's on top of all the walking just about did me in over 4 days! I think my magic meter will be on FULL for quite a while. Hopefully Alaska will not keep us away for too long. Noah woke up this morning asking to see Mickey. Hopefully, the pictures and souvenirs will suffice.
Kevin is on his way to get our van - the one that kicked the bucket. Hopefully, it is now in full working condition and will get us to Alaska this fall.
Oh - by the way.....Caleb is rolling over! With and without the brace he is flipping himself from back to tummy. Last night, without the brace on, he almost went from tummy to back. It was quite the effort.
Hope you all have a magical day! :)

Murphy

I got a wonderful surprise for my anniversary. Kevin made arrangements for us to visit the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. We left early Monday morning and it was starting out to be a perfect trip, until about exit 15 in South Carolina. All of a sudden the car jerked and then started dying. Oh great! Just let us make it off the interstate! So, we coast slowly into a gas station, all with the help of the good Lord. Kevin gets out, raises the hood and takes a look. Well, Kevin can tell the transmission is shot. Just about that time, a huge gust of wind comes up, takes the hood off of its prop and slams it into our windshield. Well, the windshield is cracked. Let me tell ya, Murphy had our number this day. To top it off, the wrecker coming told us that there is not room in the cab of his truck to carry all of us. Well, I was not staying behind with my two babies at a gas station for who knows how long! So, the wrecker man says, "Well, it's illegal but you can ride in the van while I haul it." What was I supposed to do? So, we get loaded onto a wrecker and take a 30 min trip to a mechanic shop. My stomach was in knots the entire ride. To add to my worry, concern, fear, etc., all the way there I am sinking down into my seat because there were cops EVERYWHERE! The whole time I am sunk down and I am praying feverently.

Well, this does end on a good note. We did not let this little hiccup stop us. Oh no, we get a rental car and hit the road again. We had a great time at the Biltmore. Pictures and words do not do this place justice. I let my imagination wonder, as I walked all the halls, and looked into room after room. If you have not been there, please go! It is a very neat and extraordinary thing to see. But take your walking shoes, cause after pusing a double stroller up hill after hill and flight after flight of stairs, Kevin and I thought we were not going to make it back to the car!
Oh, and we do not know anything about the car yet. Like when we are going to get it back! That would be nice to know since we are going to have to drive 184 miles (one way) back to the shop to pick it up!! We are planning on leaving for Disney on Friday and it should be another adventure in this rental car! Wish us luck!

Two Things

Ok, so two things have caught my attention. I captured them both in these two photos. Let me explain......
Caleb and the Bumbo - who in the world woulda thought of making a seat for semi-floppy head babies out of the same stuff they use to make hunting targets. That's right. I grew up with a very avid hunting father and brother and this is the same stuff they use for hunting targets. Besides that, this thing is great. Plop down boy #2 and away we go, 2 free arms! Yes, it doesn't take much to make me happy..... This thing is lightweight, not too big, and hopefully travel worthy.
And for those of you wondering where his brace is, well he gets about an hour to hour and a half break each day and we used this break for playing with the bumbo and taking pics. Added perk, this chair works great with the brace, another reason I give kudos to the inventors, it makes my life just that much easier. :)
Noah and the PB&J - ok, this will be an anniversary Kevin and I never forget. I was not going to post today being the anniversary and all, however after lunch I could not forgo posting. I hope all the fam enjoys this reading! Today, Noah asked for the usual at lunch, PB&J. So, I obliged and he got one. Kevin was home today for lunch and he ate the leftover pizza (there is a point - hang in there). Kevin eats ranch dressing on pizza - whole other story. Well, when Noah saw the ranch he wanted some. WHAT?! Ranch for a 2yr old? Ranch on a PB&J?! Ok, so the tyrant, aka Noah, boy numero uno, etc. decides to bless Kevin and I with a screaming, crying, snotty nose performance over being told NO to the ranch. Being the super mom that I am, I cave and he gets some. This next part may gross you out if you have a sensitive stomach. Boy numero uno decides to dip his PB&J in the ranch and eat away happily. Dip and bite, dip and bite. At first, I thought GROSS!, but then watching his enjoyment totally of this concoction, Kevin and I start laughing. Laughing that you can't stop laughing. Noah, on the other hand, just sits there happily eating a PB&J with ranch on the side!
So, that's my two things. A floppy baby on a hunting target and a new sandwich inventor!
Oh and just to note, today is our 4 yr anniversary. I want to add that I have been blessed by God with the most perfect man for me. If you ever think that God really does not know what you need and want, just rethink what is around you. I would not be the person I am today without what I have learned from my husband.

Ok, I did it

Ok, so I did it. I started this blog. There are no promises that I will keep it updated frequently. The best I can hopefully accomplish is once a month. Sounds easy enough.
So to start, I will reveal my new nickname - the cleaning nazi. That's right, I have been dubbed by Kevin after a very jam packed weekend of ceiling to floor cleaning of the entire house. The way I saw it was, unless you had a baby to nurse, you should not be sitting down. :)
So, my family loved when Sunday rolled around, cause I have this rule. No working on Sunday. If God rested on this day, we should probably follow our greatest example.
Easter Sunday was nice. The boys woke up to Easter baskets full of chocolate and cute trinkets, church was AWESOME, and Noah had a great time searching for the treasured eggs. Of course he ate so much chocolate and ran around the house at 10x the normal pace!
Kevin is preparing for his deployment today. Keep us in your prayers as his departure day gets nearer and nearer.

On a side note - I was doing my daily Bible reading this mornin. I am reading a combo of 2 Sam and 1 Chron. I just can not express how awesome God is. The more I read the same passages over and over the more I realize how wonderful he is. How I wish I could pray to God like David did, so much passion, honesty, and complete openess and vulnerability . He LOVED God so much. What a great example God gave us. How blessed I truly am.

Ok - that's it. The first post is done.
